Eco-Core® White Birch Multiply

The Eco-Core® White Birch Multiply is a multi-layer panel manufactured from plantation grown Birch logs.  It is a short grain medium density hardwood that grows in the cold northern climate of Europe.

Environment

Tests have revealed that the Eco-Core White Birch Multiply with melamine glue has a formaldehyde emission rate of 0.033 mg/m2/hr.  The Eco-Core White Birch Multiply with phenolic glue has a formaldehyde emission rate of 0.030 mg/m2/hr

Specifications

The Eco-Core White Birch Mutiply is available in the following sheet sizes:

1525mm x 3050mm x 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 35mm thick in S/BB and BB/BB quality (short grain where the veneer runs along the 1525)

2500mm x 1250mm x 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30mm thick in B/BB and BB/BB quality. (long grain where the veneer runs along the 2500)

1525mm x 1525mm x 3, 4, 15, 24mm thick in B/BB and BB/BB quality.

1500mm x 3000mm x 4mm in S/BB

1525mm x 3050mm x 4mm in BB/BB

S/BB - one good face with a downgrade back

B/BB - one good face with a downgrade back

BB/BB - downgrade both sides

BB grade is a downgrade where a few "Butterfly Patches" are found. A butterfly patch refers to an imperfection on the face of the board that has been cut out and replaced with a similar coloured Birch veneer.

Sheets can be pressed together locally to create thicker dimensions up to a maximum thickness of approximately 250mm.  Minimum quantities and additional lead time will apply.

The White Birch Multiply is available in exterior and interior grade.

The Eco-Core White Birch Multiply Film Faced is available for use in concrete formwork.

The appearance of a small sample is indicative only, being a natural product both grain and color can vary. Natural veins can occur on the face veneer, which is not classified as a defect. A small timber sample does not always represent the appearance of a larger surface of the same product.

Construction

Multilayer all Birch veneer construction, the White Birch Multiply machines very well, leaving only a minimum of "burrs" compared to plywood made from Hoop Pine, Slash Pine or Radiata Pine.  It undergoes a high level of processing using modern equipment.  The density is approximately 650-700 kg/m3.  It makes use of Melamine glue or Phenolic glue for the exterior grade and Urea E1 glue for the interior grade.

Benefits

The White Birch Multiply is a high quality ply which machines very well, leaving only a minimum of "burrs" compared to plywood made from Hoop Pine, Slash Pine or Radiata Pine.

Applications

Typical applications include building and construction, joinery, furniture, wall paneling, ceiling panels, partitioning, marine industry use, truck/trailer flooring, container flooring, packaging, toy manufacturing, storage, platforms, transport and formwork.

It is very suitable for a clear coated finish, re-veneered with different decorative timber veneers or high pressure laminates, leaving the multilayered edge visible.
