Eco-Core® SVL (Solid Veneer Lumber)
Eco-Core® SVL - Solid Veneer Lumber is a contemporary look in laminated timber. Glued from upright longitudinal veneer layers of wood, approximately 3.0mm thick per layer. They are glued with resorcinol and polyurethane glues; which are water, weather and boil fast.
Environment
The Eco-Core® SVL has been rated as E0 for formaldehyde emission.
Specifications
The SVL is available in European White Birch and European Pine, in standard sizes of 5750mm x 650mm x 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80mm thick. Other sizes and thicknesses can be made, additional lead times will apply.
The Eco-Core® SVL is supplied raw, sanded to grid 60. It has exposed edges running parallel with the glue laminations and should be finished with a solid timber edge strip or a laminated veneer edge strip. It is sold without edge strips, these can be purchased separately, please contact us for details. In the raw product small holes and cracks can occur on the faces caused by open knots, cracks or similar. These holes and cracks are not classified as defects and should be puttied with timber putty prior to fine sanding. We supply the Eco-Core® SVL slightly oversize for you to trim or fine sand to exact measurement (maximum length of SVL is 5750mm.) The SVL laminations run along the longer measurement.
The Eco-Core® SVL is available as a Face Panel where approximately 3-6mm thick SVL is laminated onto Eco-Core White Birch Multiply or Poplar Blockboard. It can be supplied laminated on two sides or one side depending on the requirement. This construction makes the thinly sliced SVL more stable as there is less chance of the material bowing or moving over time. Typical applications may include wall paneling, ceiling cladding, bedroom/office doors, cabinetry, table tops, furniture, joinery work, stair treads, flooring and more.
The advantage of using this product in some applications is that it can be supplied in over-all thinner but wider panels. Panel sizes are 2500mm x 1250mm x 25, 28, 34mm single sided or 2500mm x 1250mm x 14, 20, 26, 32, 38 double sided laminated on White Birch Multiply and 2780mm x 910mm or 1120 x 44, 46, 48, 52, 58 x 44-58 mm thick laminated on Poplar Blockboard.
The SVL Faced Panel is supplied raw, sanded to grid 60. It is a cladding material where exposed edges will require finishing with an edge strip. The Eco-Core® SVL also comes as a flooring material; 2890mm x 73mm x 12mm. It is applied similar as any parquetry flooring, directly glued down on a concrete base. The many laminations create a harder surface than the actual timber itself, therefore better for wear and tear. It is tread fast, resistant and stable. The Solid Veneer Lumber can be machined with normal woodworking machinery.
Benefits
The Eco-Core® SVL - Solid Veneer Lumber is a high strength, load bearing, stable material due to the many laminations. Because it is made of lengthwise glued layers of veneer and not from cross layers, the result is that each layer consistently absorbs forces and not just the second layer as in the case of ordinary plywood.
